Supporting the Academic & Professional Development of HYMS Students
What we are providing
The Hull Medical Society is pleased to support student members at Hull York Medical School. Presenting your work at a conference is a significant milestone, and we are delighted to offer financial assistance to help you achieve this.
Bursary Overview
The HMS Conference Bursary provides a grant of up to £200 to contribute towards the cost of conference registration fees.
To keep our support focused and the application process simple, please note that this bursary is intended exclusively for registration fees. It does not cover travel, accommodation, subsistence, or poster printing costs.
Who can apply?
Applications are open to all medical students currently enrolled at HYMS who meet the following criteria:
HMS Membership: You must be a current member of the Hull Medical Society. (Please note: Membership is free for all HYMS students).
Academic Participation: You must have received official confirmation that your abstract has been accepted for an oral or poster presentation at a recognised academic conference.
How to Apply?
Step 1
Online Application Form
Complete the application via Google Forms. You will need to provide a Personal Statement (max 300 words) explaining the benefits to your professional development.
Step 2
Email Supporting Documents
Immediately after submitting the form, please email the following to
info@hullmedicalsociety.co.uk:
- Proof of Acceptance: Official confirmation email/letter.
- Abstract or Poster: A copy of the work being presented.
- Registration Receipt: A copy of your paid receipt.
Subject Line: Bursary Application - [Your Full Name] - [Conference Name].
Review Timeline
Applications are reviewed on a quarterly basis by the HMS Council. We recommend submitting your application as soon as your registration is paid to ensure inclusion in the next review cycle.
Celebrating Success
We believe in celebrating the achievements of our members. All bursary recipients will be offered an opportunity to present their project at a future Hull Medical Society event, providing further experience in academic presentation.
